AIRplus Inflator

How do I set up and operate the AIRplus Inflator?

This article explains how to set up and operate the AIRplus Inflator. The inflator produces Soku Minute Mattresses on site, directly from a cartridge. You install the inflator only when mattresses are needed. Until that moment, the inflator stays in the Soku Fieldkit. After these steps, the inflator produces mattresses.

What is in the Soku Fieldkit?

The Soku Fieldkit holds the inflator and the items you need for deployment. The Fieldkit contains:

  • The AIRplus Inflator.
  • A printed system guide with instructions.
  • A power cable.
  • A box that contains a slide-out knife for the film and the emergency service parts: two Teflon transport belts, one custom AIRplus blade, and two Allen keys.

The Fieldkit also has space to store one cartridge and a bundle of pillowcases.

Note: The Fieldkit has space for an optional battery power supply. Soku does not supply this battery. If needed, you can add your own battery power supply.

Set up the inflator

Set up the inflator when mattresses are needed at your location.

Before you start: Prepare a stable, solid surface at a comfortable working height. Make sure that a power source is available. Use a stable power source of at least 600 W, in particular during start-up. The inflator works on 230 V, 50 Hz or on 115 V, 60 Hz.

  1. Open the Soku Fieldkit.
  2. Remove the AIRplus Inflator from the Fieldkit.
  3. Place the inflator on a stable, solid surface, at a comfortable working height.
  4. Make sure that the main switch is set to "0".
  5. Connect the power cable to the inflator and to the power source.

Load a cartridge

Load a cartridge before you produce mattresses.

  1. Slide a cartridge onto the roll holder. Put the end with the warning symbols on first.
  2. Push the cartridge fully onto the roll holder for correct alignment.
  3. Feed the film between the film guide shaft and the film guiding wheel, toward the display side.
  4. Set the adjustable sealing unit lock to the unlocked position.
  5. Tilt the lock, then lift the adjustable sealing unit.
  6. Open the film by hand and place the film over the nozzle.
  7. Pull the film to the marked point at the front of the sealing units.
  8. Set the adjustable sealing unit lock to the locked position.

Produce mattresses

Before you start: Make sure that a cartridge is loaded and that the inflator is connected to the power source.

  1. Set the main switch to "1". The display turns on.
  2. Press the 1/0 button to start production. The inflator produces mattresses automatically.
  3. Tear off each mattress at the tear line.
  4. Press the 1/0 button to stop production when you have produced enough mattresses.

The inflator produces up to 200 mattresses per hour. Each mattress leaves the inflator filled and sealed, and separates at the tear line.

Tip: For the best mattress quality, let the inflator run continuously. Do not stop the inflator more than necessary.

Note: The inflator is preconfigured for the Soku Minute Mattress. Use only the 1/0 button and the R (reset) button. The other buttons change the inflator settings. If the mattresses do not work as mattresses, see the article How do I resolve mattress quality issues?

When a cartridge is empty

When a cartridge reaches its end, it runs empty. The AIRplus Inflator detects the empty cartridge automatically and shows an error code on the display.

  1. Press the R (reset) button.
  2. Remove the empty cartridge from the roll holder.
  3. Load a new cartridge.

Remove a cartridge

Remove a cartridge when you want to replace it or end the deployment.

  1. Press the 1/0 button to stop production.
  2. Set the adjustable sealing unit lock to the unlocked position.
  3. Tilt the lock, then lift the adjustable sealing unit.
  4. Use the slide-out knife to cut open the inflated mattress section that is still at the sealing unit, so that it deflates.
  5. Roll the film back onto the cartridge.
  6. Slide the cartridge off the roll holder.

Switch off the inflator

  1. Press the 1/0 button to stop production.
  2. Set the main switch to "0". The power is interrupted after a few seconds, when the display is fully off.
  3. Before maintenance or storage, disconnect the power cable.

Safety

Warning: The nozzle and the sealing units become hot during production. Do not touch the nozzle or the sealing units during use or shortly after use.

Warning: Keep flammable materials away from the inflator.

Warning: Do not operate the inflator in standing water. Protect the inflator from rain and high humidity.

Warning: To stop the inflator in an emergency, set the main switch to "0".

Note: Place the inflator on a stable, solid surface. Avoid contact with the electrical system of the inflator.
